Nicotine is a painkiller and just like alcohol, sugar and junk food it numbs the pain of your life. Everyone knows that smoking isn’t good for your health. People blame the cigarettes for being addictive, but it is the numbing of pain that is the real addiction. When people get courages and quit smoking, they often replace the smoking with alcohol, sugar, junk food or something else. So the addiction has never stopped. It has just been replaced with something else. And the pain is still there. It never got looked at or felt. Nothing has changed.
People blame themselves for being weak, which only causes more pain that needs to be numbed. They don’t see how their lives are being set up and programmed for mediocre lives. It starts in school. The programs are followed up by watching TV, media and movies. They make you stay in jobs you don’t like. You stay in relationships that have finished. You jump on the diet roller coaster and don’t get healthy. And you are made to feel powerless to change anything about it.
Quitting smoking doesn’t have to be difficult or hard. I did it and I was fine. However I jumped on the food addiction wagon because I didn’t understand how self sabotage worked. I didn’t face my pain. It took me many more years for I finally was able to see what I was doing to myself and why. Then the healing began.
